We are building a serious SaaS platform for the MENA market, and we are looking for engineers who can build production-grade systems, not just features.
Role Overview
We are looking for an exceptional Senior Backend Engineer with strong hands-on experience in PHP Laravel and SaaS platform development.
This role is highly backend-focused and integration-heavy. The ideal candidate has already worked on production systems involving Meta, WhatsApp Business Platform, TikTok, Snapchat, Google, webhooks, queues, OAuth, multi-tenant architecture, and high-volume API integrations.
You will work directly with the CTO and engineering team to design, build, improve, and scale the backend services that power String.
What We Need
We need someone who can take ownership of complex backend modules, design clean and scalable APIs, handle third-party integration complexity, and write production-ready code with strong attention to security, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
This is not a junior or experimental role. We are looking for someone who has already shipped serious backend systems in production.
Mandatory Requirements
The candidate must have:
- 5+ years of professional PHP Laravel experience
- Strong experience building SaaS products
- Strong understanding of multi-tenant SaaS architecture
- Strong REST API design and implementation experience
- Experience with queue systems and background jobs
- Experience with webhooks and event-driven architecture
- Strong experience with Redis
- Strong experience with MySQL
- Experience with Docker
- Strong Git workflow experience
- Solid understanding of security, scalability, and performance optimization

SaaS Architecture
- Design and improve scalable backend architecture
- Enhance multi-tenant performance, isolation, and reliability
- Improve backend security, scalability, and maintainability

API Development
- Build secure, production-grade APIs
- Maintain API versioning and backward compatibility
- Optimize API performance and response times
- Apply proper authentication, authorization, validation, and rate limiting

Develop, maintain, and improve integrations with:

Backend Engineering
- Build backend services, automation engines, webhook handlers, and integration modules
- Design reliable queue-based workflows
- Handle retries, failures, logging, monitoring, and edge cases
- Work with large volumes of leads, messages, events, and campaign data
- Write clean, maintainable, testable, and well-structured code
